Welcome to the Seattle Compass, Seattlefs Japanese language visitors guide. The Seattle Compass was first published in 1983, when it was called the Pacific Companion. In 1993 we changed the name to the Seattle Compass, a name we felt was more identifiable for Japanese.

The Compass contains a comprehensive introduction to Seattle and Washington state-all in Japanese. The content in the Compass is written first-hand in Japanese and is not a translation. Descriptions of Pike Place Market, the Space Needle or the Olympic Peninsula have been prepared by Japanese writers in their native language who have been there and done that. Readers will also find useful maps and directories to help them navigate to a Mariner game at Safeco Field, the University of Washington or, to the Center of the Known Universe in Fremont.

The Seattle Compass is a supplement to the
Soy Source newspaper. The Soy Source is a Japanese language newspaper published bi-weekly by Japan Pacific Publications in Seattle with a circulation of 7,500 copies.
